Testing Methodology

G-band chromosome analysis is performed on stimulated and unstimulated cells.

 

Specimen Requirements

Bone marrow - preferred specimen type: 0.5 – 3 cc collected in sodium heparin. Do not centrifuge or freeze. Store sample at room temperature. Sample should reach the laboratory within 48 hours of collection.

 

Blood: 3 – 5 cc collected in a sodium heparin (green top) vacutainer tube. Do not centrifuge or freeze. Store sample at room temperature. Sample should reach the laboratory within 48 hours of collection.
